Remember those PSP commercials with the funny Dustball characters? I came across one of these commercials on youtube, and started to look for more videos of these ads. Here are the ones that I found. The Dustball character are really funny, check them out.

      That long one wasn’t meant to be a regular commercial as the others. It was intentionally used as a promo for in-store demos of the PSP when they used to had them on display at places like Target. I remember seeing this vid there, but it was also once available as a download on the PSP site back in ‘06. The promo itself is a general run-down of the PSP’s features and it’s multimedia usage besides games. I think they did a good job explaining what you could do with this product if you were looking to buy it. That was what won me over from getting a DS.

      This was originally part of a campaign Sony used when the PSP debuted in America back in ‘05, though originally it included a few other odd critters such as squirrels. Somehow the dust ball characters found more mileage so they devoted more time to them in ‘06, to the point they ended up producing more ads that were focused on the UK market instead, and even a website, dustballs.tv, which sadly isn’t no more (can’t even get anything behind a “loading” screen from archive.org).

      For what it’s work, it was an effective campaign for it’s time. I wished it kept on going a little more, but it was a rather nice while it lasted.
