Pixelelement is very excited to announce its very first illustration contest. This is going to be a fun, inspiring, and a great way to fire up those creative minds out there.

Nov 20: I have received several suggestions to extend the deadline so they can have time on the holiday breaks to participate. The new deadline will be Dec 31, 2009.

Nov 18: Thanks to everyone who has confirmed will be participating in the contest. It’s going to be awesome!

The contest consist in painting/coloring a sketch titled “What The Poodle!?” by illustrator Živko Kondić. In this sketch the name of the character is Poodel, and it’s a poodle with a “mild” case of character disorder.

How to participate:

  1. Download the image here.
  2. You can paint this in any medium, traditional or digital.
  3. You can submit as many submissions as you wish.
  4. You can paint only one character if you wish.
  5. You do not have to keep the line art.
  6. Please keep the original size of the sketch.
  7. The deadline to submit your entry is December 31, 2009.

How to submit your entry:

  1. Submit your entry as .jpg or .png to cb31416(at)gmail(dot)com with “Pixelelement Contest” in the subject.
  2. Include in the email:
    1. Your Name:
    2. Your Website: (if any)
    3. Your email:

The winner will receive a printed poster size of his entry. Živko Kondić and I (Carlos B) will pick the best entry, and the winner will be announced on January 2, 2010.

I will be making updates with the submitted entries. This is going to be fun, and a great way to promote your self.

Please help us spread the word as much as you can to get more people to participate.

I would certainly enjoy participating in your contest. I do personally think that it would be wise to extend the deadline, what with the holidays and everything. It may take longer for some of us to complete an entry because of them.
